The past decade has been tough for female escorts, but it’s also been incredibly wonderful in many ways. Of course, we’ve had to deal with a lot of nonsense.  We saw online dating take off and we were all drowning in a flood of unwanted contacts. There was so much going on, but crystals were getting lost in places where they weren’t supposed to be. Dealing with societal expectations for female escorts, the assumption that women are desperate to settle down, and all the pressure to be feisty, sexy, non-threatening, confident, optimistic, and well-adjusted  But the last decade has also been a decade of learning, understanding, and importantly, growth, especially for female escorts. I’m not saying everything is resolved (we still struggle with the above situations), but the discussion has changed. That’s why this new decade will be better for single female escorts and society in general. For too long, no one talked at all about “emotional labor” or “mental strain,” much less “double shift work.” These expressions have existed to some extent in academia, but only recently have they taken hold in public discussion.  This is not only great news for female escorts in relationships, but it’s also amazing for single female escorts because it raises the bar. For a long time, we considered the extra mental work that female escort’s do, from emotionally catering to partners to running a household, to be completely normal. But now it’s normal to expect, and even demand, more than that. You don’t have to settle or bend over backward to be with someone who takes advantage of you. Instead, straight single female escorts can expect their dates to not only be knowledgeable about emotional labor, but willing to participate in it. It was time.
